Yorke Peninsula Times (January 28th)
Approximately 120 school-aged children participated in the Home Start Vac Swim Learn to Swim program, held at Port Broughton between January 5th and January 15th.
In addition to learn-to-swim classes, the children were taught such skills as water safety survival, emergency care and basic stroke improvement.
Begun back in the early 1920s, the Vac Swim program has given millions of S.A. children the opportunity to learn to swim.
Instructor-in-charge at Port Broughton was Carmel Reid. Instructors were Tracey Daniel, Katrina Axford, and Cheryl Spotswood, with two assistants, Gail Reid and Benita Ireland. Stephen Talbot also did voluntary work towards his instructors award.
