The Home Start Vacation Swim Program began at the Millicent Swimming Lake on Monday (January 5) with 325 youngsters aged from five to 17 enrolling
Seven 45 minute lessons, beginning at 10.15am, are held on each weekday, and they will carry on until January 15.
As well as learning to swim the program teaches water safety. Youngsters begin at level one and progress through the ranks to the highest level - a bronze medallion.
The instructor in charge of the program, Simon Jarrad, said this year's enrolment is up on recent years, and he is being assisted by five other instructors and two assistants.
The lessons are also being held at Southend and Beachport.
