Murray Valley Standard (January 8th)
Vacation swim classes start
Vacswim, the swimming and water safety program for young South Australians, began at a number of centres throughout the region on Monday.
The multi-stage program continues until January 15.
Vacswim is based on Royal Lifesaving Society of Australia, Surf Lifesaving SA and SA Swimming principles and programs.
These are designed to provide children with opportunities to develop competence and confidence in the water, improve their swimming strokes and a range of skills in water safety, personal survival activities and emergency procedures.
School age children over the age of five years as at January 5, 1998, are eligible to participate in the program.
Places in the region where Vacswim is being conducted are the Cambrai pool, Coomandook Area School, Coonalpyn Swimming Centre, East Murray Area School, Geranium Area School, Karoonda Area School, Lameroo Swimming Centre, Mannum High School, Meningie Area School, Murray Bridge Olympic Pool, Swan Reach Area School, Tailem Bend Primary School and Tintinara Area School.
